“You will find, as you look back upon your life, that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love.” —Henry Drummond
I first met Danielle and Anthony when Danielle was standing up in another wedding in the fall of 2015 (thanks Tracy + Patrick!), she told me that she was engaged and asked for my card. I meet a lot of my brides this way, which is great because they get to see first hand how I work on a wedding day. When we spoke about a month later, she asked if I would travel to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for their wedding in the fall of 2016. Lake Geneva is a beautiful resort town about an hour North of Chicago, so naturally I said of course! I got to know Danielle and Anthony better when we met last winter to shoot their engagement photos in a forest preserve – see it here. Danielle and Anthony met at Northern Illinois University and are so super laid back and cool – I knew their wedding day would be amazing.
When I arrived at Danielle’s parents house to capture some photo’s of her and her bridesmaids getting ready she showed me her dress and said “you can take it outside to take photos if you want.” WHAT? I’ve always wanted to do this, but usually the logistics do not work, or the bride is too nervous that the dress might get dirty, not Danielle 🙂 I then headed over to Danielle’s grandfathers house to get some candids of the guys “getting ready” aka taking shots of Jameson as most groomsmen do. Danielle and Anthony planned their first look out at a covered bridge on the grounds of the Hawks View Golf Course, where the ceremony and reception was held. It’s always so amazing to watch as the groom turns around and see’s his bride for the first time. The ceremony was held on the overlook terrace at Hawks View Golf Course and the view was just stunning! The bride’s brother was the officiant and did a wonderful job welcoming his new brother in law to the family. The reception was amazing and the dance floor was packed all.night.long – as a wedding photographer, this is something I love!
Danielle and Anthony, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your beautiful wedding day, you guys are the best! x0, Lisa
