“If I had to choose my best day ever, my finest hour, my wildest dream come true, mine would be you” – Blake Shelton // This quote says is all about Kristin and Andy’s amazing Iowa wedding.
Although I’ve been a city girl for over 10 years now, I’m 100% a country girl at heart. I was born in Iowa and spent many family trips there getting lost in cornfields and jumping on haybail with my cousins as a girl. My mom is originally from Dyersville, Iowa (the home of the Field of Dreams!) and I was absolutely honored when my cousin, Kristin, asked me to be her wedding photographer just outside my mom’s hometown in Dubuque, Iowa. After shooting so many weddings in Chicago I find myself longing to photograph rustic barns and open fields, so this Iowa wedding was just what I needed!
Kristin and Andy’s Iowa wedding including everything my country girl heart has been longing for – blue skies, open fields, tractors and a fun-loving bride and groom that were made for one another. It was so incredibly difficult to choose only a few photo’s for this blog post, I could go on and on about the special moments of this entire day, here are a few: 1. Knowing how special Kristin’s relationship is with her parents I made sure to have a private moment with her mom as well as organize a first look with her dad, which were both hard to shoot because I was tearing up as well! 2. The priest wanted to say a prayer with the bride and groom before the ceremony started so we organized it around a wall so that the groom couldn’t see his bride. 3. Kristin and Andy are both SUPER close to Kristin’s niece, Charlotte, so much that Kristin told me that Charlotte probably thinks she’s the one marrying Andy (oh cute!). The sign that Charlotte carried down the aisle was to die for and the hug with Andy….get the kleenex girls! 4. The wedding party was just as great – even egging me on to take a hit off the ever clear “apple pie” moonshine while one of the groomsmen got a photo – yep that happened 🙂
Kristin and Andy’s love story is so special. They are both very active in their church and had known about one another for years before officially meeting a few years ago at a church fish fry. It’s so amazing when you immediately see that a couple that is so amazingly in love. The way they look at each other and speak about the other made my heart so happy that my cousin has found her soulmate in Andy. A special thanks to my husband, Dani, for being the best second shooter ever! Kristin and Andy, I cannot thank you both enough for letting me capture your amazing Iowa wedding! You are the best! x0 – Lisa
