My April with the Elks Part II – Hoop Shoot Competition: Chicago Event Photography
As explained in my last blog post, I am honored to not only be the photographer for a number of Elks events, but also a member of the Des Plaines, Illinois Elks Lodge. The charitable contributions of the Elks extends from local to national levels and I am proud to be a part of this wonderful organization!
The second event I photographed in April for Elks National was the Hoop Shoot free throw contest. Boys and girls ages eight to thirteen compete at the local, district, state and finally regional levels to reach this national contest held in Chicago. The Hoop Shoot is an outstanding event to be a part of, it’s amazing to watch the determination on the kids faces as they compete for the top spots. There were times during the competition you could hear a pin drop and cut the tension with a knife. The talented winners receive not only bragging rights but also a large trophy and their names are inscribed on a plaque at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
I’m so honored to be a part of such an amazing event! A big thank you to Elks National for letting me capture these amazing moments!
