“The greater your storm, the brighter your rainbow” – Unknown
I first met Kirsten and Peter last year when they contacted me for a 4th of July photo shoot with their 3 adorable bulldogs (see the post here). I loved getting to know them and when Kirsten contacted me to inquire about scheduling a maternity photo shoot I couldn’t have been happier that her and Peter are expecting! We met in Lincoln Park on a gorgeous day and they had to include their other “babies” the bullies! We got some beautiful shots utilizing the nature and the skyline surrounding the Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk. At one point Peter says to me “I saw this idea on reddit….” and we had to do it (the tree photo 🙂 As much fun as we had during this maternity shoot, there was also a quieter moment as well.
Towards the end of the shoot Kirsten and Peter wanted to do something special. Kirsten had explained to me when we set up the maternity shoot that they are blessed with a “rainbow baby.” Just as a beautiful rainbow emerges after a storm, this amazing baby was conceived after a miscarriage. This article in Huffington Post explains how mixed emotions can be for these amazing parents to be. Kirsten and Peter wanted to honor the baby they lost and bring some rainbow balloons for the very end of the shoot. I can’t begin to tell you how extraordinary this moment was, I am so honored to be a part of such an amazing tribute. This couple is so loving and strong they are going to be such amazing parents to this lucky little baby! Kirsten and Peter – thank you so much for letting me capture these amazing memories! x0 – Lisa
