“Distance gives us a reason to love harder” – Anon // There is no better quote for this romantic Chicago forest preserve engagement shoot with Lealani and Daniel.
Lealani is a good friend of one of my past clients and she contacted me about photographing her wedding this coming December. As we were going over the details she mentioned that her fiance, Daniel, had signed up for the Marine Corp and would be leaving for bootcamp soon. They scheduled their wedding for over the Holidays when he will be on leave. The couple decided they wanted to have some Chicago forest preserve engagement photo’s taken before Daniel left for bootcamp.
Here in Chicago we have been having an abnormally hot “fall” with temp’s in the 90’s, so the engagement shoot felt much more like summer than fall on the evening when we met. It’s amazing that right outside the city of Chicago there are a number of spacious, protected forest preserves with hiking trails and trees for miles. Of course I suggested that we meet at the golden hour right before the sun goes down to capture the sunset sky colors – we were not disappointed. We used the spacious fields of the forest preserve to catch the amazing sky before heading back into the woods to use some trails. We ended the Chicago forest preserve engagement by posing the couple by Daniels motorcycle that he calls his “other baby”.
When we were saying our goodbyes Lealani and Daniel told me that he was leaving for bootcamp in San Diego in just a few days and I promised Lealani that I would get her engagement photo’s to her right after he left so she could frame some during this time. I know that the time apart will be a struggle, but I truly believe that this couple will come out the other side stronger and more in love than ever! I can’t wait for your wedding in December! xo – Lisa
