“Sisters don’t need words, they have perfected their own secret language of smiles, sniffs, sigh’s, gasps and eyerolls” // This quote is perfect to describe this beautiful Chicago family photography session I had highlighting new baby sister, Cecelia.
I met the wonderful Hardt family two years ago for another Chicago family photography session when their second daughter was 6 months old. At that time they were a family of four with oldest daughter, Caroline and second daughter Charlotte. When they contacted me this year to tell me the news that they were expecting their third daughter in the spring I was super excited to see how the girls have grown. This Chicago family photography session was extra special for me because I am the youngest of three daughters and I know firsthand that sisterhood is such a strong bond. The family wanted to wait until baby Cecilia was a few months old before getting the photo’s done so that the other sisters would be more interactive with her.
I came out to the family home on a gorgeous spring day and when I arrived I immediately noticed some of my photo’s from our last session hanging on the wall – this is always the BEST! For the session we used full advantage of the family’s swingset in the backyard so the girls would have fun and play together. From experience I have found with Chicago family photography sessions where the kids are quite small it’s better to go somewhere to make it fun for them – this always results in smiles and laughter and usually they are much more willing to sit for a family photo as well 🙂 Caroline and Charlotte are so excited to have a new playmate and are the sweetest big sisters ever. I do have to say that baby Cecelia stole the show with those eyes and adorable yawns!
A big thank you to the Hardt family for letting me capture your beautiful growing family! Hugs! – Lisa
